How we must learn to protect the natural environment in order to preserve our own wellbeing.
Low-dose cytarabine has benefitted some patients; however, this treatment was associated with a higher infection rate when compared to observation in a randomized trial. Was lower: 32% nine of 28 ; for polyps of all sizes and 57% eight of 14 ; for large polyps. Results of tests of significance confirmed that the sensitivities for the primary shape filters filters 17 ; were different. For polyps of all sizes, the Cochran Q statistic was 55.8 P .001 ; and for large polyps was 47.2 P .001 ; . There were 113 false-positive detections for filter 6 for the 20 colons, or a mean of six false-positive detections per colon. On the basis of colonic segments, there were 65 true-negative segments and 48 false-positive segments specificity, 58% ; . When the ray sampling method was used Fig 5 ; , 44 false-positive detections were eliminated 39% improvement ; , without any reduction in sensitivity; this left 69 false-positive detections, or a mean of 3.5 false-positive detections per colon 78 true-negative segments and 35 false-positive segments; specificity, 69% ; . The human observers found 23 of 28 large polyps, five of 12 medium polyps, and one of 10 small polyps sensitivities of 82%, 42%, and 10%, respectively ; . The human observers' sensitivity for detecting all polyps regardless of size was 58% 29 of 50 ; at supine CT colonography. This number is less than the previously reported 80% sensitivity found at nonblinded inspection, because the human observers were blinded to the colonoscopic findings, although they strongly suspected that the patients had polyps in some location. When only well-distended colonic segments were considered, the human observers found 12 of 14 large polyps, four of five medium polyps, and neither of two small polyps sensitivities of 86%, 80%, and 0%, respectively ; . The overall sensitivity for the detection of all polyps within well-distended segments regardless of size was 76% 16 of 21 ; . For comparison, in polyps missed by the human observers, filters 6 and 7 were used to find two large polyps, and filter 8 was used to find three large, two medium, and four small polyps. In retrospect, the three large and two medium polyps found by using filter 8 may have been mistaken for haustral folds three polyps ; or stool two polyps ; . The sensitivities for the lower isosurface thresholds were the same or slightly lower for the nine filters for all four groupings of polyps all polyps, large polyps only, all polyps in well-distended segments, and large polyps in well-distended segments ; in all but eight of 36 comparisons, without any obvious trend Table 3 ; . Linezolid, quinupristin dalfopristin, and daptomycin may be used specifically for infections caused by documented vancomycin-resistant organisms eg, VRE ; or in patients for whom vancomycin is not an option. Triumph In the face of disability Photographs by Victor Chin 16 June to 9 July 2005 This collection of 40 images is a photographic portrait of a small group of the disabled in Malaysia and Thailand. Victor Chin is a multimedia artist and currently an honorary fellow at the Institute for Environment and Development LESTARI ; UKM. Kuala Lumpur International Photography KLiP ; Biennale in co-operation with the National Art Gallery Young Photographers Lose Themselves by Caecar Chong, Erna Dyanty, Danny Lim, Mun Li, Pang Khee Teik and Yap Hoi Yan 1 to 30 August 2005 Six young photographers negotiate with the terror and comfort of their urban spaces through very individual photography aesthetics. Three of them look at the world outside their homes, the streets, buildings, cities, essentially their extended homes, and recontextualise their identity and visual language through various mediums. The others look indoors, and redefine their art and their identity against their subjects' art and identity. This show has been co-ordinated with the assistance of our member, photographer Alex Moh. 120 Years of Railway Networks in Malaya A Photography and Ceramic Exhibition September 2005 marks the 120th anniversary of the railways in Peninsula Malaysia it was in June 1885 that the first railway was opened from Port Weld to Taiping. Members were taken on a tour of the KL Railway Station and KTMB Sdn Bhd Corporate Headquarters earlier this year. For this exhibition, we are delighted to work with Malaysian photographers Chan Kin Wah, Eric Peris, Soraya Yusof Talismail, Syed Zainal Rashid, Arthur Teng, Bob Teoh, and potter Alex Tan to showcase images of the railway networks. With the kind co-operation of KTM Berhad, the photographers covered a selection of stations from Perlis to Singapore, and up to Kelantan. More information on the exhibition will be provided in the next bulletin and dactinomycin.

Soviet Union would not attempt a nuclear attack. The ABM Treaty became the cornerstone of subsequent nuclear-arms-control agreements between the United States and the U.S.S.R. The Strategic Arms Limitation treaties SALT I and II ; and the Strategic Arms Reduction treaties START I and II ; froze and then reduced the offensive nuclear arsenals of both nations. GERHART SCHROEDER OF Germany has publicly warned that the U.S. NMD system would violate the ABM Treaty and so "re-trigger the process of a renewed arms race." Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy of Canada has also weighed in against the system: "A new arms race could be set in motion, " he has stated, "one that would undermine the stability that we have all come to take for granted." Both China and Russia also raise the specter of a renewed arms race. China currently has only about one or two dozen aging land-based ICBMs, all of which are vulnerable to attack. But to preserve the effectiveness of its nuclear deterrent in the face of the American NMD, China may be forced to deploy numerous modern ICBMs.

The olive ridley turtle is less abundant than the leatherback in the Gamba Complex. A total of 51 olive ridley nests were found during the early morning patrols. We tagged 9 olive ridley turtles with a Monel tag and recorded one recapture of this species. Furthermore, five green turtle nests and three nests made by hawksbills were counted during the monitoring period. For both species we succeeded in tagging one individual with Monel tags and both individuals were recaptured during this pilot study and damiana.
