We are party to a license, manufacturing and supply agreement originally executed in November 1998 with F. HoffmannLa Roche Ltd. whereby we license to Roche the PEG reagent used in Roche's PEGASYS product for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C. This agreement provides us with milestone payments, rights to manufacture the PEG reagent and a share of revenues related to the PEGASYS product. A subsequent agreement with Roche related to further collaborative work on PEGASYS was entered into in April 1999 to develop a PEGylated interferon alpha-2a product. PEGASYS was filed for approval with the FDA for a hepatitis C indication on May 22, 2000. In December 2002, the FDA approved the combination therapy with Pegasys and Copegus for the treatment of adults with chronic hepatitis C who have compensated liver disease and have not previously been treated with interferon alpha. In 2003, 2002 and 2001, Roche accounted for approximately .7 million, .4 million, and .2 million, respectively, of our product sales. In January 1997, we entered into a collaborative agreement with Centeon later Aventis-Behring ; to develop a pulmonary formulation of alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor to treat patients with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, or genetic emphysema. Under the terms of the collaboration, Aventis-Behring was to receive commercialization rights worldwide excluding Japan and we received an up-front signing fee, research and development funding and milestone payments. In January 2004, the agreement was terminated. Under this agreement, we recognized revenue of approximately ##TEXT##.9 million, .5 million, and .8 million in 2003, 2002, and 2001, respectively. We are party to a license, manufacturing and supply agreement with Amgen Inc., originally executed in July 1995, to supply a 20kDa PEG derivative, which is utilized in the manufacture of pegfilgrastim for Amgen's Neulasta This product is indicated for decreasing the incidence of infection, as manifest by febrile neutropenia in patients with non-myeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive anti-cancer drugs. The FDA approved Neulasta for marketing in the United States in late January 2002. Under this agreement, we recognized product sales revenue of approximately .2 million, .9 million, and ##TEXT##.5 million in 2003, 2002 and 2001, respectively. We are a party to a license, manufacturing and supply agreement for PEG CDP 870 with Celltech Group plc executed in 2000, which was subsequently assigned to Pharmacia for the rheumatoid arthritis indication. In October 2002, Pharmacia initiated Phase III clinical trials with CDP 870. In April 2003, Pfizer acquired Pharmacia and in December 2003, Pfizer announced that it will reassign rights to CDP 870 back to Celltech in early 2004. Under the agreement, we receive milestone payments, royalties on product sales and PEG manufacturing revenues if the product.

This type of testing involves extracting DNA from the blood and is very sophisticated. It is able to give a more definite answer about carrier status in nearly all cases. The method relies on identifying the specific mutation that has caused haemophilia in a member of the family and then seeing whether the woman who might be a carrier has the same `marker' or not. The tests can be time consuming and require the family member with haemophilia to be tested. If the specific `marker' for haemophilia in the family can be identified, DNA testing can identify whether a woman is a carrier or not. It turns out that at least 50% of all the cases of severe haemophilia A are due to a specific switch in the factor VIII gene known as `the Intron-22 inversion IVS22 ; '. Therefore, if there is a history of haemophilia in the family but no family blood samples are available, it is sometimes possible to identify that a woman is a carrier of haemophilia by carrying out a specific blood test to detect the IVS22 mutation in the mother's blood.

Saint Joseph's Hospital is acknowledged by HealthGrades, the Nation's leading healthcare watchdog group, to have the "best overall" cardiac program in Georgia and among the top ten percent in the nation. In addition, in 2004, Saint Joseph's was named by Solucient as one of the Top 100 Heart Hospitals in America for the fifth time. In citing the reason for the campaign's focus on overweight and obesity, Dr. Jan R. Weber, Chief of the Division of Cardiology at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and Medical Director of The New Jersey Heart Institute at Lourdes had this to say: "People need to realize that a high-risk waistline greater than 35 inches for a woman and greater than 40 inches for a man, according to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute puts you at greater risk for heart disease and pegvisomant.

We recruited 100 patients table 1 ; , but two patients in the saline group were excluded from analysis; laparoscopy in one patient was converted to laparotomy, and collection of data for the other was incomplete. Follow-up questionnaires were returned by 86% of patients. Perioperative data are shown in table 2. Alfentanil bolus doses were administered during anaesthesia to 38% of patients in the neostigmine group and to 42% in the saline group. A drain in the peritoneal cavity was inserted in 34% and 29% of patients, respectively. The incidence of PONV is shown in table 3. There were no differences in the incidence or severity of PONV, or in administration of antiemetics in the PACU or on the ward table 4 ; . There were no differences in VAS patient satisfaction scores between the groups at any measurement times. There was no difference in times to urinary voiding or home readiness between the groups. Voiding was achieved after a median time of 287 interquartile range 104 ; min in the neostigmine group n: 43 ; and 244 107 ; min in the saline group n: 42 ; . Home readiness was achieved after 292 127 ; min and 249 130 ; min in the neostigmine and saline groups, respectively. | By BD ProbeTec users for 2006 were 99% correct for all true positive and true negative test samples. These results are even more significant given that BD ProbeTec users represented the largest peer group in the CAP database 44 and 42% for CT and GC, respectively. Lastly, in the previous issue of LabOTM Vol. 18, No. 2 ; , we reported on a variant strain of CT vCT ; that has been circulating in Northern Europe. Although this variant strain is deficient for specific sequences in the CT plasmid, analytical studies have shown that the BD ProbeTec ET System is capable of detecting the organism. Successful detection of the vCT strain has been demonstrated with analytical sensitivity equivalent to that for other known CT strains. For full details, visit bd ds learningCenter index. asp to view the LabO newsletter. for other purposes. BD ProbeTec has the fewest procedural steps compared to any other competitor's product and BD Viper has the longest operational `mean time between failures' compared to any competitor's instrument.
Were noted more frequently in the placebo vaginal ring group. The number of women in this subset was too small for between-group statistical comparisons. Baseline Greene Climacteric Scale scores were comparable across the three groups, with the exception of lower scores for the sexual dysfunction subscale in the two E2 vaginal ring groups. Total Greene Climacteric Scale scores and subscale scores were significantly lower ie, improved ; at weeks 4, 8, and 13 for both E2 vaginal ring groups than in the placebo vaginal ring group P .05 and P .002, respectively ; . Table 3 shows the mean change from baseline in the overall Greene Climacteric Scale total score and subscale scores. No significant differences were observed between the two E2 vaginal ring groups in mean reductions in any subscale measure. During the visits at weeks 4, 8, and 13, participants indicated that the vaginal rings were well tolerated. The vaginal ring was kept in place for the entire 13-week treatment period by 81%, 92%, and 84% of the women in the E2 vaginal ring 50- g, E2 vaginal ring 100- g, and placebo vaginal ring groups, respectively. Less than 25% of all women removed the vaginal ring during the 13week treatment period, and most of those who did found the ring easy to remove and reinsert Table 4 ; . The reasons for removal of the vaginal ring were not captured in this study. Among the women who reported having sexual intercourse during the study period, the majority in all groups reported that the vaginal ring caused no discomfort to themselves or their partners. When man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets. Or ever the silver lace be taken away, or the golden band broken: or the pot be broken at the well, and the wheel upon the cistern: Or dust be turned again unto the earth from whence it came, and the spirit return unto God, which gave it. All is but vanity saith the preacher ; all is but plain vanity. The same preacher was not wise alone, but taught the people knowledge also: he gave good heed, sought out the ground and set forth many parables. His diligence was to find out acceptable words, right scripture, and the words of truth. For the words of the wise are like pricks and nails that go through, wherewith men are kept together: for they are given of one shepherd only. Therefore beware my son ; that above these thou make not many and innumerable books, nor take diverse doctrines in hand, to weary thy body withal. Let us hear the conclusion of things: Fear God, and keep his commandments, for * that toucheth all men: For God shall judge all works and secret things, whether they be good, or evil.
