Special Language Skill Preference Points may be added to an applicant's total test score based on particular foreign language oral or sign language proficiency. In order to receive such special skill preference points, an applicant must successfully pass the Entry-Level Police Officer test and then successfully pass a supplemental test to be administered at a later date time ; that measures an applicant's level of foreign language or sign language proficiency. The Commission will determine which foreign language skills will receive preference points dependent on the needs of the Police and Fire Departments and is contingent on the reasonable availability of foreign language assessment tests. Any Civil Service test for foreign language or sign language proficiency is for the purpose of awarding special skill preference points only. The awarding of special skill preference points is separate from any Department skill tests or pay considerations offered by through the Department of Public Safety or any collective bargaining agreement s ; . The Commission is currently considering the following languages for Special Language Skill Preference Points: Japanese Korean Russian Sign Language Spanish Vietnamese If an applicant who passes the Entry-Level Police Officer test identifies at initial application, intermediate or advanced foreign language skills not listed above, the Commission may conduct additional special skills testing as deemed appropriate. An applicant who passes the Entry-Level Police Officer test and who is rated "proficient" in the supplemental testing would receive five 5 ; special skill preference points to be added to their passing total test score. A maximum of five 5 ; points would be awarded, even if language proficiency is demonstrated in more than one target language. The assessment of an applicant's level of foreign language expertise is based on his her ability to communicate orally speech and comprehension ; in a particular target language. Individuals should be able to handle with ease and confidence a large number of spoken communication tasks. Individuals should be able to follow complex directions and offer or ask for the same in the target language. Individuals should be able to offer complex directions in emergency situations and request medical information for first responders. An applicant who might be awarded such points as determined by supplemental testing ; , please identify any oral foreign language or sign language skills based on the following: Beginner Would not qualify for points. Each of the three models showed an independent risk for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma associated with allergy to grass, hay, trees, leaves, other plants, and pollen; three or more bee and wasp stings; five or more different types of vaccinations; use of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs NSATDs ; aspirin, enteric-coated aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, naproxen sodium, diflunisal, sulindac, indomethacin, salsalate, piroxicam, tolmetin sodium, diclofenac sodium, phenylbutazone, and ketoprofen use of cholesterol-lowering drugs; use of cimetidine and other histamine Hj-receptor antagonists ranitidine, famotidine, and nizatidine ; to treat ulcers; body mass index score; and lifetime number of sexual partners. Most of these exposures were related to decreased risks for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, with the exceptions of an increased risk related to an increased body mass index score and to the use of cimetidine and other histamine Hj-receptor antagonists. In addition, in the individual models, women who reported non-thyroid-related endocrine gland disorders pituitary, estrogen or other female hormone, adrenal, parathyroid, and hyperinsulinemia ; had a 3.3-fold increased risk for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, whereas men who had been diagnosed with polio had a 2.6-fold increased risk. The men's model and the combined model showed similar elevated risks for nonHodgkin's lymphoma related to a history of gonorrhea and similar decreased risks associated with an increased lifetime frequency of marijuana use. An increased risk for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma associated with a history of splenectomy was significant only in the combined model, although sex-specific, ageadjusted risks were of similar magnitude and torsemide.

As visualized on x-ray film radioautographs, brain sections from normal monkeys processed with the human GAD67 probe exhibited labeling in the striatum caudate and putamen; Figs. 2A, 3A ; . The human and feline GAD67 cRNA probes produced a similar pattern of radioautographic labeling Figs. lA, 2A ; . Quantitative analysis of labeling in different sectors of the striaturn revealed slightly lower values in the dorsal portion of the caudate nucleus than in the remaining portions of the striatum. The observation of emulsion radioautographs demonstrated that labeling in the striatum was distributed over neuronal profiles Fig. 4A ; . As previously described in the rat Chesselet et al., 1987 ; a majority of neurons in the striatum of the squirrel monkey exhibited a low density of labeling, whereas few neurons were densely labeled Fig. 4A ; . In the pallidum, GAD67 mRNA labeling was distributed over a majority of neurons of the GPi and GPe and was more intense than in the striatum Figs. 3A, 4 ; . Quantification of labeling on emulsion radioautographs showed that neurons in the GPi and the GPe expressed similar.
Protein requirements may be increased by 50%, especially during active stages of the disease. Supplemental vitamins and minerals and trace elements may be needed to replace stores or for maintenance because of maldigestion, malabsorption, drug-nutrient interactions, or because the patient cannot eat a complete diet. Diarrhea can aggravate losses of zinc, potassium, and selenium stores in particular. During acute and severe exacerbations of the disease, the diet is tailored to the individual patient. A minimal-residue diet that limits poorly absorbed or hyperosmolar sugars, caffeine, and excess fiber might be used initially to reduce diarrhea. During either acute or chronic stages, inflammation or scarring may result in a partially obstructed bowel; and, in that case, fiber may have to be restricted or limited to minute particles to pass through the narrowed lumen. Small, frequent feedings may be tolerated better than large meals, and small amounts of isotonic, liquid, oral supplements may be valuable in restoring intake without provoking symptoms. In cases in which fat malabsorption is likely, supplementation with foods made with MCT may be valuable in adding calories and serving as a vehicle for fat-soluble nutrients and topotecan.

Fernandes and co-workers have recently shown that other NSAIDS including tolmetin exhibit ROS and RNS scavenging activity. The indole derivatives such as indomethacin, ethodolac and acemetacin, the pyrole derivatives such as ketorolac and tolmetin and the oxazole derivative oxaprozin have shown scavenging activity against the peroxyl radical ROO. ; , .OH, O2.-, nitric oxide NO. ; and peroxynitrite ONOO- ; free radicals. These authors also report that some NSAIDS such as indomethacin, ethodolac and acemetacin have similar if not greater scavenging activity for the ROO., O2.- when compared to endogenous free radical scavengers such as glutathione and ascorbic acid. These authors have also previously reported that sulindac as well as its metabolites demonstrate strong scavenging activity against these free radicals Fernandes et. al., 2003.
